ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟଦେବ ହିନ୍ଦୁ ଦେବଦେବୀଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଅନ୍ୟତମ ।


ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟ, ଋଷି କାଶ୍ୟପଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର ଅଟନ୍ତି । ଅଦିତିଙ୍କ ଗର୍ଭରୁ ଜନ୍ମ ନେଇଥିଲେ । ବିଶ୍ୱକର୍ମାଙ୍କର ନନ୍ଦିନୀ ସଂଜ୍ଞା, ସ୍ୱର୍ଯ୍ୟଙ୍କ ପତ୍ନୀ । ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟଙ୍କ ପୁତ୍ର ସନ୍ତାନ ମନୁ, ଯମ ଓ ପୁତ୍ରୀ ଯମୁନା ଅଟନ୍ତି । ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟଙ୍କର ଅପର ପତ୍ନୀ ହେଉଛନ୍ତି ଛାୟା, ଯେ ଶନିଙ୍କ ଓ ତପତି ଙ୍କର ମାତା । ସୁଗ୍ରୀବ ଓ କର୍ଣ୍ଣ ମଧ୍ୟ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟଙ୍କର ପୁତ୍ର ଅଟନ୍ତି । ପକ୍ଷୀରାଜ ଗରୁଡ଼ଙ୍କ ଭାଇ ଅରୁଣ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟଙ୍କ ସାରଥୀ ଅଟନ୍ତି ।[୧]ପଶ୍ଚିମ ବଙ୍ଗରେ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟ, ଗଙ୍ଗାଦିତ୍ୟ, ମୁର୍ଶିଦାବାଦରେ କୁଶାଦିତ୍ୟ, ସାମାଦିତ୍ୟ ଏବଂ କୋଣାର୍କରେ ମିତ୍ରାଦିତ୍ୟ ନାମରେ ବିଦିତ ।
ଅଶ୍ୱରୂଢ଼ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟ ଦେବ ହେଉଛନ୍ତି ଦ୍ୱିଭୁଜ ଏବଂ ଚତୁର୍ଭୁଜ ରୂପେ ବର୍ଣ୍ଣିତ । କୋଣାର୍କରେ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟ ମୂର୍ତ୍ତିଙ୍କ ଦୁଇ ପାର୍ଶ୍ୱରେ କୁନ୍ତୀ ଓ ପିଙ୍ଗଳା ଅବସ୍ଥାନ କରିଛନ୍ତି । ହିନ୍ଦୁଙ୍କ ମତରେ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟଙ୍କ ରଥ ଗୋଟିଏ ଚକ ଓ ସାତୋଟି ଘୋଡ଼ାଦ୍ୱାରା ଚାଳିତ ।

ପୂଜା


ଶାମ୍ବ ଦଶମୀ ତିଥିରେ ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ଘରେ ଘରେ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟ ପୂଜା ବା ବିରଞ୍ଚି ନାରାୟଣ ପୂଜା ଅନୁଷ୍ଠିତ ହୁଏ । ବ୍ରାହ୍ମଣମାନେ ସନ୍ଧ୍ୟା କରିବା ସମୟରେ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟ ମଣ୍ଡଳ ମଧ୍ୟବର୍ତ୍ତୀ ସର ସିଜାସନ ସନ୍ନିବିଷ୍ଟ ନାରାୟଣଙ୍କୁ ଧ୍ୟାନ କରନ୍ତି । ଗାୟତ୍ରୀ, ସାବିତ୍ରୀ, ସରସ୍ୱତୀ ଦେବୀମାନେ ମାନେ ମଧ୍ୟ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟ ମଣ୍ଡଳ ମଧ୍ୟସ୍ଥା । ବ୍ରାହ୍ମଣମାନେ ଗାୟତ୍ରୀ ମନ୍ତ୍ରରେ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟଙ୍କୁ ନାରାୟଣ ରୂପେ ସ୍ତବ କରନ୍ତି ।

ମାର୍ଗଶୀର - ମିତ୍ର, ପୌଷ - ବିଷ୍ଣୁ ସନାତନ, ମାଘ - ଅରୁଣ, ଫାଲ୍ଗୁନ- ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟ, ଚୈତ୍ର - ବେଦାଙ୍ଗ, ବୈଶାଖ - ଭାନୁ, ଜ୍ୟେଷ୍ଠ - ଇନ୍ଦ୍ର, ଆଷାଢ଼ - ରବି, ଶ୍ରାବଣ - ଗଭସ୍ତି, ଭାଦ୍ରବ - ଯମ, ଆଶ୍ୱିନ - ସ୍ୱର୍ଣ୍ଣରେତା, କାର୍ତ୍ତିକ - ଦିବାକର, ଅଧିମାସ - ପୁରୁଷ (ଆଦିତ୍ୟ ହୃଦୟ) ।

ବୌଦ୍ଧ ସାହିତ୍ୟ, ନାଥ ସାହିତ୍ୟ, ସାରଳା ସାହିତ୍ୟ, ପଞ୍ଚ ସଖା ସାହିତ୍ୟ, ମାଦଳା ପାଞ୍ଜି, ବିଷ୍ଣୁ କେଶରୀ ମାହାତ୍ମ୍ୟ, ନୃସିଂହ ପୁରାଣ, ବୈଦେହୀଶ ବିଳାସ, ବିଦଗ୍ଧ ଚିନ୍ତାମଣି ଆଦିରେ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟଙ୍କ ସ୍ତୁତି ବର୍ଣ୍ଣନା ହୋଇଛି । ଚୋଳଗଙ୍ଗଙ୍କ ସମୟରେ ସତ୍ୟାନନ୍ଦଙ୍କ ସଂସ୍କୃତିରେ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟସିଦ୍ଧାନ୍ତ ଗ୍ରନ୍ଥ ରଚନା ହୋଇଥିଲା । ଭାଗବତ, ରାମାୟଣ, ମହାଭାରତ, ମତ୍ସ୍ୟ ପୁରାଣ, ଅଗ୍ନି ପୁରାଣ, ତନ୍ତ୍ରସାର, ନୀଳାଦ୍ରି ମହୋଦୟ, ଶାମ୍ବ ପୁରାଣରେ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟଙ୍କ ବର୍ଣ୍ଣନା ଦେଖିବାକୁ ମିଳେ ।

୧୨ଶ ଶତକରେ ଲାଙ୍ଗୁଳା ନରସିଂହଦେବଙ୍କଦ୍ୱାରା ଓଡ଼ିଶାରେ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟଦେବଙ୍କ ମନ୍ଦିର କୋଣାର୍କର ମୈତ୍ରେୟ ବନରେ ନିର୍ମିତ ହୋଇଥିଲା । ଏହିଠାରେ ଶାମ୍ବ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟଙ୍କୁ ପୂଜା କରି କୁଷ୍ଠ ବ୍ୟାଧି ମୁକ୍ତ ହୋଇଥିଲେ । ଏହି ମନ୍ଦିର ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟଙ୍କ ରଥ ସଦୃଶ । ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ବୁଗୁଡ଼ା, ଭଦ୍ରକ ସହ କାଶ୍ମୀରର ମାର୍ତ୍ତଣ୍ଡ ମନ୍ଦିର, ଗୁଜରାଟ, ଉତ୍ତର ପ୍ରଦେଶରେ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟଙ୍କ ମନ୍ଦିର ଅଛି । ବୁଦ୍ଧଗୟା, ସାରନାଥ, ଏଲୋରା, ମାନ୍ଦାସୋର, ଇନ୍ଦୋର ପ୍ରଭୃତି ସ୍ଥାନରେ ସୂର୍ଯ୍ୟଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତିମୂର୍ତ୍ତି ଦେଖିବାକୁ ମିଳେ ।
