I have observed a recent increase in the number of inters with headline "incoming intern at (company)". I have seen it mostly on business/commerce student profiles. I am not a business / commerce student, so I am not sure if this is widely accepted in the business sector. I have not seen it on engineering student profiles.



Will not post the link to said profiles to protect their privacy.



There are reddit threads on this (a)(b) however.



My question/s are



1) Is this appropriate* behavior? To list one's future position, as an intern, without having started and in some cases not having yet signed a commencement contract?



2)If one is to list it prior to commencement, is it good practice to check with the HR of the associated company? Or is it quiet odd to ask about this matter?

Please do not respond with it is "tacky", and "odd" and you "shouldn't do it".
This is clearly a trend, odd yet successful, and interns are doing it.



I'm looking for response on the matter of administrative logistics associated with it.



*By appropriate I mean from administrative standpoint. Like the appropriate behavior of giving x amount of time notice prior leaving a job. Technically you don't have to unless you want to leave on good term and/or it is stated in your contract.
