Previous to this incident, my boss (who is new since May) told me that if I continue to do what I have been doing, I'll likely get a promotion, though couldn't promise anything. We have had a little bit of friction, but nothing serious. My boss is very black and white and likes things very much her way (as observed by all members on and off my team).
Recently I requested vacation for 3 months away. Its semi busy during this time but maneagble. When I first asked her i told her how important it was to me to go on this vacation(I havent been anywhere in 2 years and it's a big family trip). She told me she needs to think about it several times. She told me her concerns and I told her I am fully committed to working before and after (even during if needed). But all in all, the only thing I would need to reschedule is a few meetings that would simply be done prior to me leaving.
This entire process she appeared hostile to even me asking for this time off. After several days, she finally said that I can have this vacation but as a result I will be agreeing to a bad performance review as a result of going. I am showing a lack of commitment and accountibilty to the team and showing a lack of support. I asked her how she can judge me before I have even had a chance to go. I told her I was fully committed to the team and the job and that is why I would get everything done on time without affecting anyone. My team previously also told me that they would support me if I wanted to go and this vacation time was not a huge deal for timing (they said it's so far in advance that we can easily figure out a way to manage it). I told her the rest of the team don't feel it will be that busy and they have told me they will support me, if I need it (but unlikely as I have already indicated my commitment). She simply said I'm sorry you feel that way. I turned around to leave and turned back and asked if there was anything else and i justice saw her smirking and rolling her eyes.
The following day we had a one on one and she was discussing a memo she reviewed. The first thing she said was you did not put any effort into this. I told her that it was insulting she would simply say that since untried hard. And her response was it doesnt appear that way to me. That I used a word that was in the standard (I later asked a coworker if that would matter and he was confused by her comment). I asked her a question about something and she smirked at me (as if like, you're dumb for asking).
Does any of this appear to be harassment/bullying? How do I now handle working for this person when she has already told me I'll be getting a negative performance review? Even the following day she started picking on little things from my memo.
