I'm working in the UK and can self certify sick for up to 7 days. My question is how this is calculated if you worked for a few hours during this 7 days.

I first went off sick last Thursday and so today is day 6. I think I should be ok by tomorrow or Thursday so it will be fine. However, I went in yesterday thinking that it was ok but quickly realised it wasn't and left at lunch time. Do those few hours reset the clock or does that still count as day 5 because it was on the same day?

Likewise if I went back on Thursday but realised it was too much and went home would I be able to self certify or would that count as a new time again?
