With no indication of location or contract you have, it's absolutely impossible to say. We don't even know the current rules of "probation" because we don't know where you are.

Location is also important to understand what you mean by "probation" (as in "probationary period" or as in "placed in probationary status due to work performance") and what are the potential consequences

  • No, it may come to that, but this is still open to negotiation. Much depends on the reason for the extension and value to the company. I refused an extension because I wanted full pay which came after probation. Their reason was a new manager.... not my problem

Technically YES. The employer is unable to onboard you on permanent contract/job and you are not agreeing to probation extension.

  • @JoeStrazzere Everything does not need evidence. If employer was in shape to get a person finish probation and continue as permanent/contract employee then the employer would not need an extension of probation. Employment is not only run based on contracts/agreements, but it also has a factor of MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING. Nobody (at least either party) gainst job-satisfaction or happiness by such job running out of MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING and TRUST/JOB-SECURITY.
