ისტორია |


1890–1941 წწ. ერიტრეა წარმოადგენდა იტალიის კოლონიას, შემდეგ — დიდი ბრიტანეთის საპროტექტოროს. 1950 წელს გაერომ მიიღო გადაწყვეტილება ერიტრეისა და ეთიოპიის ფედერაციის ფარგლებში გაერთიანების შესახებ. გადაწყვეტილება ძალაში შევიდა 1952 წელს. ერიტრეელების უმრავლესობა დამოუკიდებლობის მომხრე იყო, მაშინ როცა ეთიოპია ავიწროებდა მათ და ცდილობდა წაერთმია მათთვის ავტონომია. 1950-იანი წლების ბოლოს ჩამოყალიბდა ერიტრეის განმათავისუფლებელი ფრონტი (ეგფ). 1961 წლის სექტემბერში დაიწყო შეიარაღებული ბრძოლა დამოუკიდებლობისათვის. ამის საპასუხოდ 1962 წელს იმპერატორმა ჰაილე სელასიე I-მა ერიტრეას ჩამოართვა ავტონომიის სტატუსი და დაითხოვა მისი პარლამენტი.


1970-იან წლებში განმათავისუფლებელ ფრონტში განხეთქილება ჩამოვარდა. ფრონტს გამოეყო რამდენიმე დაჯგუფება და მათ ბაზაზე ჩამოყალიბდა ერიტრეის განმათავისუფლებელი სახალხო ფრონტი (ეგსფ). 1974 წელს სამხედრო გადატრიალების შედეგად იმპერატორის ხელისუფლება დაემხო და ქვეყნის სათავეში მოვიდა რევოლუციური მთავრობა, რომელმაც სულ მალე მჭიდრო კავშირი დაამყარა სსრკ-სთან. პოლიტიკური რეჟიმის ცვლილების მიუხედავად ერიტრეის ომი დამოუკიდებლობისათვის კვლავ გრძელდებოდა. ერიტრეის დამოუკიდებლობისათვის ბრძოლის სიმბოლოდ იქცა ქალაქი ნაკფა, რომელიც რამდენიმეჯერ დაბომბა ეთიოპიის ავიაციამ (ომის დამთავრების შემდეგ ქალაქის პატივსაცემად მისი სახელი უწოდეს ერიტრეის ეროვნულ ვალუტას). ეთიოპიასთან დაპირისპირება გაართულა ორმა შიდა კონფლიქტმა ეგფ-სა და ეგსფ-ს შორის. აღნიშნული დაპირისპირების შედეგად ეგფ-მ 1980-იან წლების დასაწყისში დაკარგა თავისი გავლენა და დაიხია სუდანში.

1988–1991 წწ. ერიტრეის პარტიზანულმა დაჯგუფებებმა რამდენიმე სერიოზული მარცხი მიაყენეს ეთიოპიის არმიას, რომელიც დაემთხვა სსრკ-ს მიერ ადის-აბებასთვის სამხედრო დახმარების შეწყვეტას. ამ პერიოდში თავად ეთიოპიაში მიმდინარეობდა სამოქალაქო ომი. 1991 წლის მაისში ეთიოპიაში დაემხო მთავრობა. ერიტრეამ ფაქტობრივად მიაღწია დამოუკიდებლობას 30-წლიანი შეიარაღებული ბრძოლის შედეგად. ეთიოპიის ახალ ხელისუფლებასთან შეთანხმების შედეგად ერიტრეაში 1993 წელს მოეწყო რეფერენდუმი, რომლის შედეგების საფუძველზეც ამავე წლის 24 მაისს ქვეყანამ ოფიციალურად გამოაცხადა დამოუკიდებლობა.


ომის პერიოდში დაიღუპა 150 ათ. ერიტრეელი პარტიზანი და მშვიდობიანი მოსახლე, 400 ათ. ადამიანი გახდა ლტოლვილი[33]. ასევე სერიოზული ზარალი მიადგა ეთიოპიას, დაღუპულთა შორის ითვლიან ათობით (ზოგიერთი მონაცემებით ასობით) ათას ადამიანს.
