Portu, Oporto — Portugaliyanknt shim.-gʻarbiy qismidagi shahar. Portu okrugining maʼmuriy markazi. Axoliyey 302 ming kishidan ziyod (1990-yillar oʻrtalari, shahar atrofi bilan 1,2 mln. kishi). Transport yoʻllarining yirik tuguni. Doru daryosining Atlantika okeaniga quyilish joyidagi yirik port. Aeroporti xalqaro ahamiyatga ega. Aholisining soni va iqtisodiy ahamiyati jihatidan mamlakatda Lissabondan keyin 2-oʻrinda. Mashinasozlik (kemasozlik, elektrotexnika) sanoati rivojlangan. Toʻqimachilik, oziq-ovqat (vinochilik, baliq konservalash), tikuvchilik sanoati korxonalari mavjud. Shahar miloddan avvalgi 1-asrdarimliklarning Portus-Kale qishlogʻi oʻrnida vujudga kelgan. Portugaliya davlatining vujudga kelishida muhim rol oʻynagan, mamlakat nomi ham shu sha-har nomidan olingan. Universitet (1911) va boshqa oliy oʻquv yurtlari, muzey bor. Meʼmoriy yodgorliklardan 12—18-asrlarda qurilgan sobor va cherkovlar saqlangan.[1]
